New Delhi, October 24: The air quality in the national capital continued to worsen on Wednesday as Anand Vihar recorded the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 999 that falls under the 'Hazardous' category. According to a tweet by ANI, apart from Anand Vihar, the other places that are witnessing bad air quality include areas around US Embassy, Chanakyapuri at 208 and area around Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium at 214 under 'Unhealthy' category in Air Quality Index.
It must be noted that the AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’. The quality of air in Delhi continued to be in the “poor” category, a day after it had improved from “very poor” Air Quality Index (AQI) zone. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded the city’s overall AQI at 252 at 11 am.
On Monday, the air quality in Delhi had shown signs of improvement after it moved from ‘very poor’ to ‘poor’ category. However, experts believe that it could deteriorate in the coming days due to toxic air coming out of a fire at Bhalswa landfill site. During the last week, a haze had engulfed the national capital and the worst air quality of this season was recorded at 324. However, on Sunday, the AQI had oscillated between ‘poor’ and ‘very poor’ categories.
