New Delhi, November 25: There has been no respite for people living in the city as they have been choking in the midst of polluted air. The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to file a report on the adverse impact on the environment of the factories running in Delhi. A Bench headed Justice Arun Mishra also asked CPCB to file details on the nature of factories operating in the capital.
The apex court further asked the Punjab Chief Secretary on what steps have been taken to prevent stubble burning. According to an ANI tweet, the top court rebuked and said, "How can you treat people like this and let them die. Tell us why stubble burning increased after our order. Why are you not able to check stubble burning. Is it not a failure?" Punjab: Stubble Burning Count Crosses 48,000 Mark, Despite Rs 100 Per Quintal Incentive to Farmers to Stop Burning Crop Residue.
Talking about the blame game and the inability to control pollution, Supreme Court to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said, "Why are people being forced to live in gas chambers? It is better to kill them all in one go, get explosives in 15 bags at one go. Why should people suffer all this? In Delhi blame game is going on, I am literally shocked”.

Justice Arun Mishra mentioned that people from other countries are making fun of our incapability to control pollution. Supreme Court cracked its whip on the Chief Secretary (Punjab), by saying that the top court will hold every machinery in the state responsible. "You can’t let people die like this. Delhi is near suffocating. Because you aren't able to implement measures, doesn't mean people in Delhi-NCR should die and suffer from Cancer", it said.
According to a report published earlier this month, the stubble burning incidents in the state reached 48,000 cases despite the Rs 100 per quintal financial help to the farmers for not setting the crop residue on fire. On a daily basis, 2,000 cases were being reported until November 12.
