Delhi Air Pollution: AQI Dips to 'Poor' Category in Lodhi Road Area as Stubble Burning in Neighbouring States Begins

According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) data, major pollutants PM 2.5 at 185 in the 'Moderate' category and PM 10 at 201 in the 'Poor' category, in Lodhi Road area. Smog could be seen in the skies of the national capital on Friday. The city has reportedly got its first 'poor' air day in three months.

New Delhi, October 11: The air quality in Delhi has deteriorated after Dusshera and stubble burning that has started in the neighbouring states. According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) data, major pollutants PM 2.5 at 185 in the 'Moderate' category and PM 10 at 201 in the 'Poor' category, in Lodhi Road area. Smog could be seen in the skies of the national capital on Friday. The city has reportedly got its first 'poor' air day in three months.

The Central Pollution Control Board on Thursday said that indications of increased fire activity during the last 48 hours were visible from satellite imagery and further deterioration of AQI is expected for the next two days. According to PTI report, System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) has said that the southwest monsoon has withdrawn from northwestern parts of the country and conditions are becoming favourable for further withdrawal from parts of northwest India and adjoining central India during the next four to five days. The late monsoon withdrawal is not good for air quality in north India, it said.
