Delhi Air Pollution: Air Quality Dips to 'Severe' Category in Most Areas, Thick Smog Chokes People; Odd-Even Back in Place For 3 Days From Today

According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) data, the major pollutants PM 2.5 at 500 & PM 10 at 497, are both in the 'severe' category in Lodhi Road area on Wednesday. On account of Guru Nanak Jayanti, the Kejriwal government had for two days relaxed the odd-even rule in the city.

Delhi, November 13: After a slight improvement, the air quality in the national capital has again worsened to 'severe' category. The thick smog is back and it is choking the citizens and people are facing respiratory problems due to it. To add to the woes is the increase in the stubble burning taking place in Punjab, the dip in the temperature and the wind speed have equally contributed to the deteriorating air.

According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) data, the major pollutants PM 2.5 at 500 & PM 10 at 497, are both in the 'severe' category in Lodhi Road area on Wednesday. In Greater Noida, the AQI has touched 458 (Severe) category in Knowledge Park-III area. Things are no different in Faridabad where the AQI is 441 (severe) in Sector-16(A) area and at 472 (severe) in Sector-62 area. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), Delhi's overall air quality index (AQI) fell to 467 at 6:30 am from 425 on Tuesday evening. The pollution monitoring board has predicted that the air quality may enter the "severe-plus" or "emergency" category today.

On account of Guru Nanak Jayanti, the Kejriwal government had for two days relaxed the odd-even rule in the city. From today, until three days, the scheme is back. It was introduced to curb the rising pollution which has been choking every people in the city.
