Delhi Air Pollution: Air Quality Deteriorates To 'Severe' Category In Lodhi Road Area, Stubble Burning in Neighbouring States Worsens Situation

Delhi, October 30: It has become extremely difficult for the people in the city to breathe normally as the air quality has turned worse. According to Air Quality Index (AQI) data, the major pollutants PM 2.5 at 500 (severe) and PM 10 at 379 (very poor) has been recorded in Lodhi Road area. Infact on the Diwali night, many areas in the city recorded an AQI of 999, beyond which reading is not possible, on Diwali night. On the Diwali night, AQI in areas such as RK Puram, Patparganj, Satyawati College and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium hit the maximum level of 999, which is 16 times more than the prescribed limit.

An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 is ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 falls in the bracket of ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 are considered as ‘severe’.
