Delhi: 6 Killed as Explosion in Moti Nagar Factory Leads to Partial Building Collapse

New Delhi, January 3: At least six were killed and eight left injured after portion of a building in West Delhi's Moti Nagar collapsed late on Thursday, following an explosion. The casualties have been confirmed by Delhi Police officials at the spot. The fire brigade personnel were carrying out the rescue operations by the time this report was published. At least 15 persons trapped under the debris have been evacuated, reports said.

"The accident has led to the unfortunate demise of six people, whereas, 8 injured persons have been rushed to the nearest hospital," Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Monika Bhardwaj told reporters, adding that the building collapsed comprised of ground and first floors.
The fatal incident in Delhi's Moti Nagar comes nearly a year after the Bawana tragedy, which claimed 17 lives. On January 20 last year, a massive fire erupted in the industrial area of Bawana. Among the deceased were mostly labourers, who were charred to death.
