New Delhi, August 3: A 26-year-old woman was found dead in a closet in her house in Delhi on Thursday. According to reports, the incident happened in the Gokulpuri area in northeast Delhi. The woman has been identified as Neeta and police say that she had been living in the said home alone for the past eight months.
According to a report in TOI, the police said that the woman may have died two days ago and it was only when the neighbours felt a foul smell that her body was found. The neighbours reportedly raised an alarm when they experienced a foul smell coming from the house. When there was no response from inside, Neeta's boyfriend Raees informed police who broke open the door and found her body in a closet.
The body has been sent for postmortem. As per initial medical examination, strangulation marks have been found on Neeta's neck. The police are investigating the murder angle.
According to reports, the police are seeing Raees as the prime suspect and have detained him for questioning. It is suspected that Raees, who is already married, may have killed Neeta on suspicion of her having an illicit affair with someone else.
