New Delhi, July 11: At least 30 students have fallen ill after consuming mid-day meal in a government school in the national capital on Wednesday. According to a tweet by ANI, the incident took place at a State Government school in Narela. The ailing students have been hospitalised for treatment and a case has been registered. The sample of the food has been seized and further investigation into the matter is underway.
Earlier this week, two minors fell ill after allegedly eating the midday meal in Delhi, in which a lizard was found. The incident took place at a school in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri.
Reports by Police informed that the condition of the kids was stable. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Pankaj Kumar Singh was quoted by The Hindu saying that said that two minors aged 11 and 14 of Class VII and IX respectively consumed the midday meal at Rajkiya Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya. The girls were later taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital after they complained of illness.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had earlier this week conducted surprise inspection in two kitchens in the national capital where the meals were being prepared for distribution in schools. The surprise check comes days after a dead lizard was found in a mid-day meal at a Delhi government school in East of Kailash. Sisodia warned the workers of strict action if any irregularities were found in future.
