New Delhi, August 25: At least 10 policemen were injured in the national capital after locals protested over rape of a minor girl. According to a tweet by ANI, locals started pelting stones on policemen. Around 12 vehicles including 1 police vehicle were damaged on Chattarpur-Mahipalpur road on Saturday. According to reports, a case of riots is being registered at Vasant Kunj Police station. An investigation into the matter has been initiated. More details underway.
On August 24, a nine-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and dumped in a ditch at Rangpur Pahadi near Vasant Kunj. According to a report by TOI, a ragpicker has been arrested in connection with the brutal assault. The accused has been identified as Prakash (34) and was nabbed by the Police after a sketch was prepared based on the description given by the minor.
The report further informs that the man had allegedly tried to kidnap another girl on Thursday night when he was caught by the locals. A case of rape and under POCSO Act has been registered against Prakash.
On Friday, there was a massive traffic jam at Mahipalpur for over two hours as nearly 500 people took to the streets in protest over the rape of the minor. Reports informed that Prakash was chased and caught by the youths who handed him over to police.
Earlier this week, 11 men were arrested in Jharkhand for allegedly raping two minor girls. According to details by police, the men, all aged between 18 and 28 years gang-raped two minor girls on August 16 when they were going to the Hirhi Harra Toli area along with their neighbour.
