Dehradun, August 9: An 18-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide after her family refused to get her two-wheeler repaired in Patel Nagar area of Dehradun on Sunday evening. However, a note found written on her palm suggested she was having issues at work.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Shreya Malik, who was a BA first year student in one of the city colleges.

She also used to work at a firm located in Doon Business Park in Patel Nagar, reported TOI.

Inspector Ravindra Yadav, station house officer (SHO) Patel Nagar told TOI, "The incident took place at her home on Sunday evening after which her family members called the police. The police team found the body hanging from the ceiling fan." Uttar Pradesh Shocker: 13-Year-Old Boy Smothered to Death by Man in Bijnor After Failed Sexual Assault Attempt

“There was an issue with her vehicle - it used to suddenly stop due to a possible battery snag. She was asking her parents to get that fixed for the last 3-4 days only to get assurances and nothing happened. On Sunday afternoon, she had a heated argument over it with her parents. They again assured her to get it done soon. Hearing that, she went to her room and locked it from inside. Later in the evening, when her mother called her for tea, she didn't open the door. Both her parents then broke open the door with the help of neighbours to find her hanging," said Yadav.

The police officer said that no suicide note was found from the spot, but a note was found written on her palm saying, "I don't like this job, despite that I am working."

"It was probably regarding the job she was doing in the firm to support her family which didn't have a sound financial condition," said Yadav, adding that the body was sent to the mortuary for post-mortem examination.
