Dehradun, March 28: An investigation in the murder of Vasu Yadav, a 12-year-old student of a boarding school in Dehradun, has revealed shocking details. On Wednesday, the police said the school management had buried the body of the victim allegedly to cover-up the murder. Vasu Yadav was beaten to death by his seniors who accused him of stealing packets of biscuits. Yadav was mercilessly tortured before he died.
According to Usha Negi, chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, the incident took place on March 10 and the management of Children's Academy informed them about it the next day. Negi said when a team visited the campus they found the management had buried the boy's body within the campus without conducting the post-mortem. The police said Yadav was brutally beaten up by his seniors. The accused students also tortured him by pouring cold water. "Not only was the boy taken very late to hospital that led to his death, the staff members also tried to hide the incident and did not report it to police. He was beaten up in phases in the afternoon, while he was taken to hospital in late evening," Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dehradun Nivedita Kukreti was quoted as saying.
The victim's father Pappu said that he was informed over a phone call that his son died of food poisoning. The accused students, both class XII students of the same school who are about 19 years old, been booked under section 302 (murder) and arrested. A case has also been registered against three staff members under section 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
