Dehradun, Sep 18: A class 10 student was allegedly gang-raped by four of her classmates at a boarding school in Dehradun. The incident took place last month (August 14), while the police arrested nine persons, including five school staffers, on Monday in connection with the gangrape. The school officials were held on the charges of hushing up the crime by trying to terminate the victim's pregnancy.

According to reports, the 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by four students who are said to be students of class XII of the same school. The incident came to light when the one-month pregnant victim narrated her ordeal to her sister. However, the school management tried to hush up the matter and gave her some drinks to terminate the pregnancy, the girl reportedly said in her complaint. SC Stays Execution of Death Penalty to Convict in Rape & Murder of a 4-Year-Old Girl.

"After the girl informed the school administration about the incident, she was given various types of drinks for terminating the pregnancy. We have learnt that the medicated drinks were given to her by the administrator and his wife who instead of reporting the matter to the police were busy in trying to hush it up," Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (USCPCR) chairperson Usha Negi told a newspaper.

School officials took the girl to a nursing home for termination of pregnancy, Negi alleged. On Sunday, an FIR was registered in the case under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Sahaspur police station. Subsequently, four accused students, all aged 17, and five staffers were arrested.
