Defence Ministry Inks Deal With Russia For Modernising Air Defence Capability of Indian Navy's P-15 Ships
The Union Defence Ministry on Thursday signed a contract with Russia for enhancing air defence capability of Delhi class warships of Indian Navy. The deal was signed for modernisation of "Air Defence Complex Kashmir and Radar Fregat MAE" on P-15 (Delhi Class) of ships.
New Delhi, September 12: The Union Defence Ministry on Thursday signed a contract with Russia for enhancing air defence capability of Delhi class warships of Indian Navy. The deal was signed for modernisation of "Air Defence Complex Kashmir and Radar Fregat MAE" on P-15 (Delhi Class) of ships. S-400 Defence Missile Systems Will Be Delivered to India Within 18-19 Months, Says Russian Deputy PM Yuri Borisov.
After this contract, Radar and Missile systems would substantially enhance for the Air Defence capability of the P-15 Ships. Under the deal, the modernisation, major overhaul and refurbishment of subsystems would be undertaken in India. Also, the Indian industry would be benefitted as manufacturing of critical hardware would also be undertaken in partnership with them.

Earlier this month, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov had said that S-400 air defence missile systems would be delivered to India in strict accordance with the schedule. It is to be known that India had signed a USD 5.43-billion deal with Russia for the purchase of five S-400 systems during the 19th India-Russia Annual Bilateral Summit in New Delhi. The Summit took place on October 5 last year.
