New Delhi, October 31: A Doordarshan journalist, Mor Mukta Sharma, recorded a heartfelt selfie video for his mother amid the assault launched by Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada. In the clip, shared by official broadcasted on its social media handle, Sharma could be heard saying that this could be his final moments.

Sharma was part of the three-member DD team which was heading towards the remote Nilawaya village in Dantewada, where they were attacked by nearly 200 naxals. Government Announces Rs 15 Lakh and Job for Doordarshan Cameraman's Wife.

The scribes were accompanied by personnel of Chhattisgarh police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 111th battalion. However, the forces were outnumbered by the Maoist cadres who had surrounded them.

The naxal attack left DD cameraperson Achyutanand Sahu dead, apart from two police officials who were guarding them. Three naxals were also killed in the exchange of fire, said special director general (Naxal operations) DM Awasthi said.

Following the attack, the Doordarshan issued a statement claiming that their team was heading towards a polling booth in Nilawaya village, where the locals would be voting for the first time in the last 20 years.

Enroute, they spotted a Maoist posted warning the villagers against participating in the polls. When cameraman Sahu approached the poster to photograph it, the insurgents launched indiscriminate firing which led to his death.
