Dalit Boy Beaten to Death For Bursting Balloon in Uttar Pradesh Temple

The victim’s friend, Suraj was present at the spot when five boys beat his friend to death near Chamanda temple.

Aligarh, Sep 6: A 12-year-old Dalit boy was beaten to death by five other boys for bursting balloon decorated at a temple on the occasion of Janmashtami. The incident took place in in Nadroi village in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh district. The victim’s friend, Suraj was present at the spot when five boys beat his friend to death near Chamanda temple.

According to Suraj, five boys started assaulting his friend when he burst a balloon. "One of them held his arms and two of them tightly held his legs and the other two were started punching him in his stomach. I immediately ran to his house and informed his mother," Suraj was quoted as saying. The victim's mother Savitri Devi ran to the temple only to find his injured son.

“My little brother complained about severe stomach ache at around 2:30 am on the same night, then his mother took him to the local doctor, but he got no relief. Then we went to another doctor at 4 pm and he referred him to the district hospital," Chandrapal, the victim’s cousin brother, told a newspaper. The boy breathed his last at 12:30 pm on Wednesday at Aligarh district hospital.

A case was registered against the five minor accused under section 304 A (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of IPC and SC/ST act. An investigation is underway and the police is waiting for the post-mortem report, SP (crime) Ashutosh Dwivedi said.
