#SabkoChabaJaayenge, a digital campaign by Dabur India Ltd, has created a buzz in social media but for the wrong reason. For ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, the brand has come up with an out-of-box advertisement showing actor Manoj Pahwa eating different dishes associated with the countries which are playing against India in Cricket World Cup 2019. For Instance, a stickjaw toffee, found in England, was used during the India-England match.
Before the India-Bangladesh match, the advertisement, promoting Dabur Red Paste, shows Manoj Pahwa eating a "teel er nadu", a sweet dish of which most Bengalis are familiar with. The ad suggests that "teel er nadu" is unique to Bangladesh. But the dish is also found in Northern India.
As a part of a sarcastic ad, it also features Pahwa reciting a popular line from Rabindranath Tagore’s poem: “Bristi Pore Tapur Tupur”, (the rain falls pitter-patter). The netizens were angry because Tagore was not specifically associated with Bangladesh. Netizens Remember Rabindranath Tagore After India and Bangladesh National Anthems Are Played Ahead of ICC CWC 2019 Match.
Notably, Tagore had composed the National Anthems for both the countries before the partition in 1947. As well as, the sweet dish "teel er nadu" are common to Indian Bengalis. Naturally, the Dabur's campaign has angered people from both the sides with #BoycottDabur trending on Twitter earlier today. Bangladesh vs India Cricket Score.
