New Delhi, October 26: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked self-styled godman Daati Maharaj for allegedly raping and having unnatural sex with an inmate of his ashram. Daati Maharaj is accused of raping a 25-year-old woman. She was also his former disciple. The woman lodged a complaint with Fatehpur Beri police station in south Delhi on June 7. In the complaint, she alleged that Daati Maharaj and two of his disciples raped him after which she was forced to return to her native place in Rajasthan.

The woman in her complaint also said that a woman disciple of the self-styled godman used to force her into his room. The police questioned Daati Maharaj On June 22. However, he refuted the charges and claimed a foul play against him. A case was registered under sections 376, 377, 354 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). As per reports, a team of Delhi Police also visited Daati Maharaj’s Ashram in Pali, but failed to find any proof. A lookout circular notice was also issued against him.

On October 16, the self-styled godman approached the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court order that directed transferring the case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The Delhi high court on October 3, questioned the police about not being able to arrest the self-styled Godman despite the charge sheet issued against him and transferred the matter to the CBI.
