Cyclone Vayu: List of Trains Cancelled From June 12 To June 14 Due to Severe Cyclonic Storm Expected in Gujarat

Mumbai, June 12: As severe cyclonic storm ‘Vayu’ advances towards the Gujarat coast, the Western Railway has cancelled several trains for three days- from June 12 to June 14. According to a tweet by Western Railways, all passenger and Mail/Express trains to Veraval, Okha, Porbandar, Bhavnagar, Bhuj and Gandhidham stations are being short terminated or cancelled after 1800 hrs (6 PM) on June 12 to morning of June 14. It further added saying that the railways will run one special train from each station to evacuate all persons from respective areas. Cyclone Vayu To Make Landfall on June 13 in Gujarat.
"In view of warnings of impending Vayu Cyclone, WR is prepared to take necessary precautions for safety of passengers & trains. A K Gupta, GM/WR held a review meeting in HQs office in this regard. In the view of the cyclone, the first evacuation special train will run from Okha at 17.45 hrs (5.45 PM) on Wednesday, June 12 for Rajkot. The second evacuation special train will run from Okha at 20.05 (8.05 PM) on June 12 for Ahmedabad with 21 coaches.

The state government launched a massive evacuation exercise to shift about three lakh people from low-lying areas of Saurashtra and Kutch regions, officials said Wednesday. According to a release issued by the meteorological department, severe cyclonic storm would hit the Gujarat coast near Veraval with a wind speed of 145 to 155 kmph gusting to 170 kmph around morning of June 13.
With the cyclone advancing towards Gujarat, the state government has aunched a massive evacuation exercise. Nearly three lakh people from low-lying areas of Saurashtra and Kutch regions will be shifted to safer places from Wednesday. As a precautionary measure, holiday has been declared in schools, colleges and ‘anganwadis’ (government-run women and child care centres) in Gujarat on June 12 and June 13. The Coast Guard, Army, Navy, Air Force and the Border Security Force have been put on high alert.
