Cyclone Tej: Alert in Mumbai as IMD Warns of Possible Cyclonic Storm in Arabian Sea, Here's When It May Hit

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning about weather changes in Mumbai due to a possible cyclonic storm that is expected to develop in the Arabian Sea. IMD said that if Cyclone Tej does form, it is likely to affect the weather in Mumbai, Pune and South Konkan regions.

Mumbai, October 19: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning about weather changes in Mumbai due to a possible cyclonic storm that is expected to develop in the Arabian Sea. IMD said that if Cyclone Tej does form, it is likely to affect the weather in Mumbai, Pune and South Konkan regions.

This low-pressure area has the potential to intensify into a cyclonic storm over the central Arabian Sea around October 21. The IMD has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea along and off the Maharashtra coast and the south Gujarat coast.

If there is any development of a tropical storm then it will be named “Tej” according to the naming process. 

Due to the arrival of Cyclone Tej, night temperatures in Mumbai and other places in the state like Pune are expected to dip to a cooler 22-23 degree Celsius.

According to Skymet weather, Cyclones in Arabian sea generally have a history of uncertain tracks and timelines. While the preferred track of these cyclones is towards Somalia, the Gulf of Aden, Yemen, and Oman. on a few occasions, these cyclones turn towards the Gujarat and Pakistan coastline.
