Kochi, October 28: Heavy rainfall is set to lash parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka in the coming days under the influence of cyclonic storm Kyarr, which lays about 830 km west-southwest of Mumbai, 1160km east-northeast of Salalah in Oman. According to a daily weather bulletin by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Kerala and isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Lakshadweep during the next five days. The weather agency has predicted heavy rainfall in these regions till November 1. Cyclone Kyarr: Tropical Cyclonic Storm Intensifies Into 'Severe Cyclone’

Under the influence of the weather conditions, isolated rainfall and thunderstorm are likely over parts of central, eastern and western parts of India during next 24 hours, the IMD said. As the system is very severe over the east-central Arabian Sea, it is likely to have an impact in weather conditions in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The sea condition is likely to very rough in the Arabian Sea and hence fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.  Kyarr is the third cyclone to be formed in the Arabian Sea this year after "Vayu" and "Hikka". 

The cyclonic storm is very likely to move west-northwestwards towards Oman coast during next 5 days and is very likely to maintain the intensity of a Super Cyclonic Storm till October 28 evening and weaken gradually thereafter. The IMD added saying that a fresh Low Pressure Area is likely to form over the north Andaman Sea on November 2. On Sunday, Cyclone Kyarr, which had gained momentum for the past couple of days, intensified into a super cyclone. "Very severe cyclone Kyarr has further intensified into the super cyclone. Now it is over the east-central Arabian Sea, approx 650 km away from Goa", said IMD Goa official said.
