Bhubaneswar, May 3: In the wake of cyclone 'Fani' threat, the East Coast section of the Indian Railways has cancelled 10 more trains which were scheduled for Friday. With this, the total number of trains cancelled from May 1 and May 3 stands at 150. According to a tweet by ANI, seven trains have been cancelled for Thursday- May 3, one train on May 4, one train on May 6 & one train on May 7. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclone is very likely to cross Odisha Coast between Gopalpur and Chandbali, south of Puri during May 3 forenoon with maximum sustained wind speed of 170-180 kmph gusting to 200 kmph. In Odisha, people have taken refuge in a shelter in Paradip of Jagatsinghpur. Reports inform that over 1 million people have been evacuated from vulnerable districts in last 24 hrs and about 5000 kitchens are operating to serve people in shelters. The cyclonic storm is expected to make a landfall in Puri district on Thursday by 11 AM. According to the Met Dept, the impact of landfall process has begun. Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said on Thursday that all flights to and from Bhubaneswar were cancelled for 24 hours starting midnight of May 3 in view of the impending severe cyclonic storm 'Fani' threat over the Bay of Bengal. The regulatory body for civil aviation issued an advance order to cancel all flights to and from Kolkata between 9.30 p.m. on May 3 and 6 p.m. on May 4 to ensure safety of operations during the cyclone.
