Patkura, May 5: The Election Commission of India on Monday decided to extend the completion of the election on Patkura assembly seat in Odisha's Kendrapara district for 60 days, in view of the aftermath of the extremely severe Cyclone Fani in the east Indian state. Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal chief Naveen Patnaik had earlier requested Election Commission for the postponement of polls. In Patkura, polling was initially scheduled to be held on April 29 but the date was changed following the death of BJP candidate Bed Prakash Agarwalla. The elections were rescheduled for May 19. The Naveen Patnaik's party has named Sabitri Agarwalla, wife of late Bed Prakash Agarwalla as its nominee from Patkura assemble constituency. While the Indian National Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have fielded Jayanta Kumar Mohanty and Bijoy Mohapatra for the seat, respectively.
