Shahjahanpur, August 13: A crocodile was fatally struck by a train Tuesday morning here near Rouza Railway Station, an official said. "The crocodile was found in two pieces, having been severed by the train," Forest Department Deputy Ranger Ajay Singh Rana said.

Rana said that the crocodile, a female, was approximately three-feet in length and estimated to be around one and a half years old. Two rivers, Garra and Khannaut, pass through Shahjahanpur district in western UP. "However, there are chances that this crocodile may have entered the river upstream during the ongoing monsoon season and somehow lost its way before ending up at the railway track," he added.
