Bengaluru, November 13: In a major crackdown, the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) registered nearly 6,000 cases against e-commerce delivery personnel on Monday, November 11, and collected over INR 30 lakh in fines for traffic violations, aiming to address the increasing infractions by delivery riders under tight deadlines.

As reported by Deccan Herald, 5,979 violations were recorded, resulting in fines amounting to INR 30.57 lakh. Crackdown Against E-Commerce Delivery Agents

The highest number of offences involved pillion riders without helmets, with 2,304 cases registered. Other significant violations included 1,260 instances of vehicles parked in no-parking zones, 671 cases of no-entry zone breaches, and 523 riders without helmets. Additionally, 281 individuals were booked for jumping traffic signals.

E-Bikes Fined As Well

E-bikes, often used for short delivery trips, also drew attention. Despite being exempt from helmet and document-related violations under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, fines were issued for offences such as riding on the footpath, parking on the footpath, riding against one-way traffic, and signal jumping. Bengaluru Shocker: Woman Alleges Sexual Harassment by Bicycle Rider.
