Cows Found Dead in Uttar Pradesh Cattle Shelters, CM Yogi Adityanath Suspends 8 Officers

According to reports, apart from the eight officials, Adityanath has also sent show cause notices to three officers including the District Magistrate for allegedly showing negligence in maintaining cattle.

Lucknow, July 15: In a stringent move, eight officers in Uttar Pradesh were suspended by  Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after cows were found dead at cattle shelters in Prayagraj. According to reports, apart from the eight officials, Adityanath has also sent show cause notices to three officers including the District Magistrate for allegedly showing negligence in maintaining cattle. The decisions comes after the Chief Minister held a video conference with all the District Magistrates in the state on Sunday evening.  Yogi Adityanath Orders All Officials to Reach Office by 9 AM at Any Cost.

The stern step by the state government comes less than a week after as many as 35 cattle were found dead at a temporary shelter home in Prayagraj due to  starvation and several other factors such as rain and lightening. According to a report by ANI, Adityanath also directed Prayagraj Commissioner to investigate all the aspects of the death of the destitute cows in the city. The Chief Minister added saying that in future, criminal proceedings could also be initiated under the Prevention of Animal Husbandry Act and Animal Prevention Act.

Reports quote police saying that the cattle may have died due to lightning. Bhanu Chandra Goswami, District Magistrate was quoted by ANI saying"Prima facie it appears that 35 cattle have died due to lightning, treatment for others underway". Recently, Adityanath had directed all the officials across the state to ensure that the cow sheds are self-reliant and all facilities should be provided to the animals in order to protect them.
