COVID-19 Testing: Tata Group Launches Test Kit that Gives Results in 90 Minutes
Tata Group's healthcare arm, Tata Medical and Diagnostics Ltd (TataMD), on Monday, launched a COVID-19 testing kit that can provide the test result within 90 minutes. The kit will be produced in it's Chennai factory with a capacity of manufacturing 1 million units in a month. It will be available at hospitals and testing centres from December.
New Delhi, November 9: Tata Group's healthcare arm, Tata Medical and Diagnostics Ltd (TataMD), on Monday, launched a COVID-19 testing kit that can provide the test results in 90 minutes. As reported by the news agency PTI, Girish Krisnamurthy, CEO TataMD said,"We have come to a solution which provides end-to-end testing experience. We make the testing much more efficient and reliable and scalable, that creates more access and availability. Moreover, this whole thing is developed in India." The kit has been approved by the government and will be made available in the hospitals and various COVID-19 diagnostic centres from December. Tata's COVID-19 testing kit is being claimed to be more efficient and simpler than the existing ones. It has the ability to increase the COVID-19 testing across the country as it requires just 90 minutes to run the diagnosis and give results. The production of the kit will take place at Tata's manufacturing plant in Chennai which has a capacity to produce upto 1 million test kits in a month. TataMD is coordinating with different hospital chains, diagnostic centres and laboratories for partnership. The total COVID-19 cases in India stood at 8.55 million on Monday, with 45,903 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll has reached 1,26,611.
