Patna, November 28: In a shocking case reported from Bihar, The Government Railway Police (GRP) officials arrested a suspected corpse smuggler and recovered 50 human skeletons from him at Saran district's Chapra railway station. GRP officials suspect that the skeletons were brought from Uttar Pradesh's Balia and were smuggled to China via Bhutan, reported Hindustan Times. The accused, Sanjay Prasad was arrested from Balia-Sealdah Express. Skeletons Found at 10th Century Rajasthan Excavation Site Sent for Dating.
Prasad is being interrogated and his mobile contacts are being scanned. Meanwhile, Deputy superintendent of police (Sonepur), Mohammad Tanvir told Hindustan Times that the GRP officials have recovered Bhutan and Nepal currencies, two identity cards, many ATM cards and Sim cards with Nepal mobile number from his possession. One of the identity cards had an address of New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal while the other was from Paharpur in Bihar's West Champaran, said DSP.
Meanwhile, another officer told HT that human skeletons are having a huge demand among medical students. Prasad is currently in police remand and will be produced in court on Wednesday. Currently, GRP officials are interrogating Prasad to find out other involved in the smuggling racket and whether he had links with people in Bhutan and Nepal.
