New Delhi, July 2: In a bizarre incident, a supporter of All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday attempted to commit suicide outside the party headquarters in New Delhi. The Congress worker's move was in response to Gandhi's decision of resigning as the Congress boss. "Rahul Gandhi should take back his resignation else I will hang myself," the supporter said. In the visuals shared by news agency ANI, the Congress supporter can be seen trying to hang himself with nylon rope. The passerby, as well as police offical, can be seen rescuing him. This episode comes after the Congress Chief Ministers of five states- Rajasthan, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Puducherry met Gandhi scion in a bid to change his mind of resignation. Reportedly some Congress workers have also observed a hunger strike against Rahul's move.
"It was a good meeting that lasted around two hours. We expressed our feelings and it was a heart-to-heart talk in detail. We conveyed and apprised him about the feelings of Congress workers across the country and urged him to continue to lead the party," Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot
