In a tweet, the party has slammed the decision saying that this move is an insult to our nation's defence forces and also to every Indian.

This move is an insult to our nation's defence forces, to our nation's esteemed parliamentarians and to every Indian." Pragya Singh Thakur Nominated to Parliamentary Panel of Defence; Here's Why Appointment of Controversial BJP MP Raises Eyebrows.
Thakur is known for her controversial comments, and when she had referred Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse as a patriot, it stirred a lot of outrage. PM Narendra Modi had to intervene and said that he would never be able to forgive Thakur for what she said. Taking a jibe at Modi's comment, Congress today in their tweet stated that finally, PM has forgiven Pragya.

From saying that Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare was killed in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks due to her "curse" to attributing the deaths of veteran leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley to 'marak shakti', her comments have always courted controversies. Thakur is currently under trial for multiple charges under the Unlawful Activities.
