New Delhi, December 13: Senior Congress MP Dr Karan Singh, son of Maharaja Hari Singh, on Thursday has written to Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, proposing a construction for a statue of Goddess Sita in addition to the planned Lord Ram statue in Ayodhya, news agency ANI reported. In his letter, released by ANI on Twitter, Singh wrote, “Considering the tough times faced by Goddess Sita, the thought occurred to me, if its already finalised to build a massive statue of Lord Ram I request you to half the height of the statue and construct two in its place — one for Lord Ram and one for Goddess Sita.” Yogi Adityanath's 'Tallest Ram Statue' Bid Evokes Opposition From Ayodhya Head Priest.

Earlier, UP CM had cleared the construction of Lord Ram statue, days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, October 31, inaugurated tallest statue in the world- The Statue of Unity in Gujarat, in a tribute to first Deputy Prime Minister of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra government said they are planning to increase the height of proposed 212 meter-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial statue to make it taller than planned Lord Ram Statue in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya.
