Kalaburagi, March 4: Chincholi Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Dr Umesh Jadhav on Monday submitted his resignation to the speaker of the Karnataka Assembly. According to reports, the Indian Congress leader is likely to defect to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the coming weeks when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kalaburagi on March 6. Earlier, on March 1, the BJP leader Baburao Chinchansur said that Jadhav will be BJP candidate in the forthcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He said that Jadhav will be up against Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge from Kalaburagi Lok Sabha constituency. Chinchansur added that Jadhav is not joining BJP for power but to bring justice to the Koli community and include them in the Scheduled Tribes category. Jadhav a two-time MLA from the Chincholi constituency, had been one of the prominent faces of Congress in Karnataka. Jadhav, a doctor by profession, before entering to politics in 2013 he worked as a surgeon in Kalaburagi government hospital.
