Congress Loses Another MLA in Gujarat, Jawahar Chavda Resigns Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2019

Surat, March 8: Indian National Congress MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) Jawahar Chavda on Friday submitted his resignation to the speaker of Gujarat Assembly, Rajendra Trivedi. This major jolt to Congress comes just a few weeks before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections which are scheduled to take place somewhere between April and May. Karnataka: Rebel Congress Leader Umesh Jadhav Joins BJP Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

Earlier this week, Karnataka Congress MLA Dr Umesh Jadhav submitted his resignation and joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of general elections. Expressing his happiness, Jadhav said “I am very happy and very proud to be part of BJP. They have welcomed me very well. I beg you to give me a chance because a nationalist party and Modi have gained world renown.”

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Congress released its first list of candidates for the upcoming 2019 elections. The list consists of 15 names including four from Gujarat and eleven seats from Uttar Pradesh. According to the list, Raju Parmar will be contesting from Ahmedabad West-SC Constituency, Bharat Sinh Solanki from Anand, Prashant Patel from Vadodara and Ranjit Rathwa from Chhota Udaipur-ST.
