Hyderabad, June 6: After 12 Telangana Congress joined ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is "buying" Congress lawmakers. Targeting Telangana Speaker P Srinivas Reddy, Reddy said, "The Speaker hasn't withheld the dignity of his office. We tried to contact him by every means but he wasn't available for us. But in some secret place, the speaker took some representation from defected Congress MLAs against whom disqualification notices under anti-defection law are pending with him and announce the merger of Congress Legislature Party. Can anything be more disgraceful?"

"We're going to Telangana High Court tomorrow & if we don't get sufficient remedy, we'll go to Supreme Court. We'll also be filing cases in the Lokpal with evidence of MLAs benefiting out of changing parties. We are going on 36 hours fast on June 8," Reddy said. Earlier, after 12 MLA joined TRS, Reddy said, "Congress will fight it democratically, we are looking for the Speaker since morning, he is missing." He also urged media to help in finding him. After this development, the Congress party lost its strength in the state and only have six lawmakers, lower than AIMIM which have seven MLAs.
This unsteady movement comes after the Congress party's disastrous performance in the Lok Sabha Elections, which saw it winning just 53 out of 542 Lok Sabha seats around the country. In Telangana, the party won three of 17 Seats. The Modi Tide which came in across India also impacted Telangana where KCR's daughter lost her Nizamabad constituency to a BJP candidate, while TRS won nine seats in the state.
