Bhopal, June 5: Namdev Das Tyagi, popularly known as Computer Baba who was appointed as the chairman of the 17-member Narmada River Trust by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath in March took charge of the office on Tuesday. Minutes after joining the office at Secretariat building in Bhopal, he demanded a helicopter from the state government to conduct an aerial survey of the Narmada River. Computer Baba Performs 'Fire Worship' on Roof of Government Guest House in Madhya Pradesh.

Computer Baba was appointed as the Chairman of the trust on March 10. However, he does not enjoy any ministerial status till now. On Tuesday he assumed charge in the presence of senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, state Law Minister P C Sharma and a few religious functionaries. Computer Baba campaigned for Singh in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. According to reports, Computer Baba also announced a helpline number to receive complaints of illegal mining in the river.

Former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had also appointed Computer Baba as a minister of state (MoS) in April last year. Four other religious leaders who were given the status of MoS by the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government were Baba Narmadanand, Baba Hariharanand, Bhaiyyu Maharaj, and Pandit Yogendra Mahant in the state cabinet. But, during the assembly elections in the state which were held in December last year, Computer Baba supported the Congress.
