Coimbatore Shocker: Engineering Student Sustains Fractures to Hands and Legs After Jumping From 4th Floor of Hostel Believing ‘He Has Superpowers’

A 19-year-old BTech student from Karpagam College of Engineering, Coimbatore, sustained severe injuries after jumping off the fourth floor of his hostel on Monday evening.

Chennai, October 29: A 19-year-old BTech student from Karpagam College of Engineering, Coimbatore, sustained severe injuries after jumping off the fourth floor of his hostel on Monday evening, October 28. The student, identified as A Prabhu from Mekkur village in Erode district, believed he possessed superpowers and could jump from any height without harm.

According to a report published by the Times of India, Prabhu, a third-year student of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, had frequently spoken to his roommates about his supposed superpowers and expressed concerns about being affected by black magic. On Monday around 6:30 PM, while chatting with friends on the hostel veranda, he suddenly leapt off the building. Student Believes 'He Has Superpowers', Jumps Off Hostel Building

He was immediately rushed to Karpagam Hospital for first aid and later transferred to Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore for further treatment. Prabhu sustained fractures to his legs and hands and suffered head injuries. He is currently receiving medical care. Police are investigating the incident and have noted Prabhu’s belief in superpowers and sorcery as contributing factors.

In another incident, a trainee doctor studying at a private medical college in Tamil Nadu jumped from the fifth floor of a building on campus and succumbed to her injuries. The victim, 23-year-old Sherlin, hailed from Tirunelveli and was a fifth-year student and trainee doctor at the institution. On the night of the incident, she was caught on camera by other students sitting for a long time outside the fifth-floor window sill. Before anyone could approach or speak to her, Sherlin reportedly jumped. She was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment but later succumbed to her injuries.
