Coaches of Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express Detach On Kathjodi River Bridge Near Cuttak, All Passengers Safe

A major tragedy was averted on Tuesday after coaches of the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express detached from each other. The incident took place on Kathjodi river bridge near Odisha's Cuttack at 9:50 am.

Bhubaneswar, April 2: A major tragedy was averted on Tuesday after coaches of the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express detached from each other. The incident took place on Kathjodi river bridge near Odisha's Cuttack at 9:50 am. According to an official of the East Coast Railway, no one was hurt when the coaches separated. According to reports, soon after leaving Bhubaneswar station at around 9.30 am the train suddenly came to a halt on the bridge. Seemanchal Express Derailment: Passengers Were Thrown Off Their Berths Violently, Recalls Survivor.

It triggered panic among passengers. The affected coaches, B/3 and B/4, were joined and the train resumed its onward journey. Senior officers from the Bhubaneswar coach maintenance depot thoroughly checked the coaches at the Cuttack railway station. A panel was formed to inquire into the matter, and it will submit its report within 48 hours. The Railways in a statement said that all the passengers were safe.

Meanwhile, in February this year, in a major train mishap, at least seven people were killed while as many as 27 people were injured after 11 coaches of the Delhi-bound Seemanchal Express derailed in Vaishali district of Bihar. The incident that took place in Shaddai Buzurg at 3:58 am while passengers were asleep.
