Mumbai, October 2: According to reports, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) will lower CNG and piped cooking gas costs from Monday. The official announced a Rs 3/kg drop in CNG prices and a Rs 2 per unit reduction in domestic piped cooking gas prices in the Mumbai metropolitan region, encompassing Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai. Effective October 2, the new MRP for CNG will fuel Rs 76/kg, and domestic PNG will be Rs 47 per unit.

This is excellent news for almost 10 lakh CNG vehicle users in the Mumbai metropolitan region, comprising over 4 lakh private car owners and a large fleet of public transportation vehicles such as autos, cabs, and buses that operate on green fuel on city roadways. We applaud the Central Government's reduction in the price of locally generated natural gas, which has resulted in rate reductions, according to an MGL spokesperson. MGL has always been a customer-friendly organisation, regularly and swiftly passing on gas cost savings to its customers in order to encourage the use of natural gas. At current Mumbai prices, our CNG currently delivers more than 50% savings over petrol and about 20% savings over diesel.
