CM Devendra Fadnavis Assures Justice to Survivor of 2017 Kalyan Gang-Rape Case

Mumbai, October 12: Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a probe in 2017 gang-rape case of a 30-year-old woman. The CM has directed Director General of Police (DGP) Dattatray Padsalgikar to look into the matter and instructed them to begin the investigation at the earliest. Earlier on Monday, the victim had approached State home minister Deepak Kesarkar to seek help in starting the probe against culprits, but she was thrown out of ministers office and minister yelled at him by saying, "What’s your worth, don’t talk much,” reported Mumbai live.

Going back to the case in May 2017, the woman alleged that she was gang-raped by seven men over the period of seven days. She said that the accused committed crime after giving him prasad laced with sedatives. The woman who was shifted to Kalyan just four months back alleged that she has approached the state home minister earlier for help and he has assured justice to the survivor. The woman also alleged that even after the incident the accused used to threaten her due to which she has to shift her house five times in just six months. She also added that out of seven accused, police have registered a case against only one culprit due to political pressure.
