New Delhi, Sept 27: Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra on Thursday addressed the members of the Supreme Court Bar Association, days before he is scheduled to demit the Office on October 2, 2018.
Justice Misra, who has been the only topmost judge in India's judicial history against whom an impeachment motion was attempted, said he stood what he believed was right during his tenure. Justice Ranjan Gogoi Appointed As New Chief Justice Of India; Will Assume Office On October 3.
"I did what I thought was right," the outgoing CJI said to a round of applause, further adding, "I must admit, and confess, some blessings is good for me, too much blessing is not so good."

In his final week in Office, the CJI has presided over benches which have delivered verdicts in key cases, including the validity of Aadhaar, criminalisation of adultery, important of mosque in Islam. The bench led by him will also decide tomorrow whether female devotees will be allowed to visit the Sabarimala temple.
Justice Misra will be succeeded by the senior-most Supreme Court judge, Justice Ranjan Gogoi. The succession was expected to erupt another round of clash between the judiciary and the Centre, with the latter being accused of being against the elevation of Justice Gogoi. The speculations were put to rest after the CJI recommended Justice Gogoi as his successor, with the Law Ministry accepting the same.
