New Delhi, November 20: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Tuesday honoured seven canines that were part of its force after serving the forces for several years. The canines retired with full honours at a ceremony organised by CISF unit of Delhi Metro (DMRC) in the national capital on November 19. The dogs retired after serving eight years with the para-military force. During their tenure, all the seven canines participated in several mock exercises, checks across Metro premises among other things.
According to a tweet by Central Industrial Security Force, the canines who retired were given medals, mementos and certificates at the event. The retired canines Hina - a Labrador, Veer- a Cocker Spaniel, Kite - a Labrador, Jelly - a Labrador, Jessy - a German Shepherd, Lucy - a Labrador and Lovely - a Labrador. According to reports, the CISF has deployed over 13,000 troops and over 50 canines to secure the over 200 metro stations operational in the national capital region. In a series of tweets, the CISF said the canines were born as a dog but retired as a soldier. "A Farewell ceremony for 07 K9 members of CISF organised CISF Unit DMRC Delhi. They were handed over to NGO @Friendicoes_DEL, New Delhi. Thank you for your services!", the tweet read.
In another tweet, the CISF stated that it is bidding farewell to their K9 heroes- Jessy (GSD/F), Lucky (Lab/F) & Lovely (Lab/F) who officially retired from duty on Tuesday. "We will always remain indebted for contributing immensely in security of Delhi Metro", the tweet read. After the felicitation ceremony was over, all the retied canines were handed over to an animal shelter NGO Friendicoes Seca. On their retirement day, handlers and some other CISF troops were seen hugging and taking selfies with the canines after the ceremony.
