Churu in Rajasthan Sizzles at 50.3 Degrees, Heatwave to Continue in Northern India Till Wednesday

Several states in north India has been reeling under severe heat wave since last few days. Scorching heat continued to grip the nation as eight Indian cities featured among the top 15 hottest cities across the globe in the last 24 hours.

Jaipur, June 4: Heatwave conditions continued to prevail in India with Rajasthan's Churu recording a maximum temperature of 50.3 degree Celsius on Tuesday. According to a report by El Dorado Weather, Churu also topped the list among 15 hottest places across the world and is the highest maximum temperature recorded in India this year. Several states in north India has been reeling under severe heat wave since last few days.  Scorching heat continued to grip the nation as eight Indian cities featured among the top 15 hottest cities across the globe in the last 24 hours. Severe Heatwave Conditions to Prevail Over North And Central India For Next 48 Hours, Says IMD.

On Tuesday, Churu continued to witness boiling temperature of 50.3 degrees, Ganganagar at 48.8 degrees, Bikaner at 48.4 degrees, Phalodi at 48 degrees, Jaisalmer at 47.8 degrees, Nowgong at 47.7 degrees, Narnaul at 47.6 degrees, Kota at 47.4 degrees, Pilani at 47.5 degrees and Sawai Madhopur at 47.7 degrees. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast on Monday predicted that the northern states of India, including the national capital will continue to sizzle in the heatwave conditions for the next two days till Wednesday. The IMD said the surging heat will pass over Vidarbha over the next five days and over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and south Uttar Pradesh during next two days. "Fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls was very likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during next four-five days", the IMD said.  Maharashtra Reels Under Severe Heatwave Condition, Nagpur Sizzles at 45 Degrees Celsius.

On May 31, Delhi recorded the hottest day of the season, with the mercury rising to 47 degrees Celsius in some areas. The weather stations at Ayanagar and Palam recorded 46 and 46.2 degrees Celsius respectively. According to reports, the maximum temperature touched the 47-degree mark in the diplomatic enclave of Chanakyapuri.
