Rajkot, December 26: All markets are currently filled with Christmas goodies. In time for Christmas celebrations, there are Christmas hats, lights, balloons available in the market. A gas balloon exploded at that time and injured 4 people yesterday. A lady was selling these decorative balloons when one suddenly caught fire, causing panic within the area. The marketplace was crowded being Christmas, and a lot of ladies had come in with their children. A woman with the red coloured balloons was in the middle of the crowd which suddenly exploded, spreading the flames in all directions. The video looks scary and there could have been more serious injuries. There is a serious concern raised about the safety regarding these balloons. Although they are commonly used almost everywhere these days, are they really safe? Such incidences can lead to serious consequences. Commonly used for celebrations, functions like wedding and birthday parties, these balloons can blast and turn it into a tragedy. Similar cases have been registered in the past and thus extreme care should be taken.
The problem is when vendors fill the balloons with the wrong gas. Instead of using helium they put in hydrogen since it is easily available and at a much cheaper price. Buyers do not really know about the gas that is filled inside the balloons.
