Mumbai, May 8: A woman has lodged a complaint against her husband who, according to her, impersonated as an officer of Mumbai Police and cheated her. The accused, identified as Kiran Shinde, is actually a chowkidar in real life. Following the complaint, Shinde was arrested and sent to police custody till May 9. Investigators also found that he had duped many people with the help of a duplicate identity card of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch.

Shinde posed himself as a cop on social media by posting his pictures donning a police uniform. The complainant got into the trap and befriended him. Their relationship blossomed and later both got married. After one month of their marriage, the woman started suspecting about Shinde's real identity. She met police commissioner and found out that her husband was lying to her, Times of India reported.

The woman then lodged a case of impersonation against Shinde with the Shivaji Nagar police station, who arrested him. Shinde had made a duplicate identity card of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch and duped several people, the police said.
