Reports indicate that the altercation began when teh accused, angered by the woman not cooking his favourite dish, attacked her in a fit of rage in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot.
Kanpur, August 24: A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his 30-year-old live-in partner in Karvi town in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot district. The incident occurred late Thursday, August 22, in the Vidyanagar area when the accused, in an inebriated state, struck the woman on the head with a shovel stick, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Arun Kumar Singh. The woman collapsed and died on the spot.
According to the Hindustan report, the accused has been identified as Vijay Raidas. The victim, Sapna Raikwar, who was involved in a legal dispute with her husband, had been living with the accused in a rented room for the past one and a half years. A case has been registered, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination, SP Singh stated. The accused was arrested on Friday morning, and further investigation is underway. Raidas, who had been advocating for Raikwar in her legal battle, grew close to her, and they eventually fell in love. The couple resided in a rented accommodation in Vidyanagar. Following the incident, the police arrived at the scene and took Raidas into custody. SP Singh confirmed that a case has been registered based on a complaint lodged by Raikwar’s father, and further legal action will be taken.
