Chilli Powder Attack on Arvind Kejriwal: Delhi Government Targets Police for ‘Security Lapses’

After a man thew chilli powder at Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal when he was leaving for lunch, the Delhi government has released a statement in which they mentioned the attack on Kejriwal as extremely shocking.

New Delhi, November 20: After a man thew chilli powder at Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal when he was leaving for lunch, the Delhi government has released a statement in which they mentioned the attack on Kejriwal as extremely shocking. They further stated that the Delhi Police is lying on the record about the premeditated attack on Delhi CM inside Secretariat office today. "It's extremely shocking that Delhi Police is lying on record about premeditated attack on Delhi CM inside Secretariat today. Security of Delhi Secretariat is the responsibility of Delhi Police and there have been numerous incidents of security breaches in the recent past," said Delhi Government reported news agency ANI.

They further added, "Instead of owning up its serious lapses, the Delhi Police is spreading lies under political pressure. Will, they answer-Can anyone enters the Secretariat with a packet of chilli powder and matchbox unchecked? Is there any checking done of people entering the Secretariat?" AAP Says Delhi Police Discriminating, Filed FIR Against Kejriwal but Not Against Tiwari.

Delhi government while explaining the seriousness of the attack said that "the attacker would have carried any weapon with him? What was the compulsion of Delhi Police to deny the attack till CCTV coverage exposed it? We'll explore all legal options to deal with the situation."

The Aam Aadmi Party has blamed the security lapses by Dehli police. Some AAP leaders said that the Delhi Police, which is controlled by Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government is repeatedly failing to ensure the safety of CM even in the highly secured secretariat office.
