Chhattisgarh, Sep 14: A 19-year-old youth committed suicide after his minor friend was allegedly gang-raped by two men in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district. The police said that the alleged gangrape took place on September 1 and boy committed suicide on September 3. The reason behind the suicide came to light when the girl went to the police station alone and narrated the whole incident. 19-year-old Girl Who Topped CBSE Exam Abducted, Gangraped
“The girl and youth, Sawan Sai, were coming back from a local market and when they reached in Bhelwatrikra under Khatghora police station, two youths – Ishwar Das and Khem Kanwar- objected to his roaming around with a girl. They then thrashed Sai in front of the girl and when Sai fell unconscious, the duo outraged the modesty of the girl,” said SP Korba Mayank Shrivastava.
In her police complaint, the minor said that she was walking towards home when the boy offered her lift since the road was deserted. Das and Kanwar spotted two near the school and walked aggressively towards them. The culprits then thrashed the duo and took their mobile phones. Terrified with the sight, the girl tried to escape but was chased a few metres away.
Dragging back to the spot where Sai was in the unconscious state, the accused gang-raped her. Next day, the boy came to know about the incident, and presumably because of the shame he felt, he hanged himself at his home, the police official said. Police have arrested the accused and booked them under the POSCO Act and IPC. Further investigation was underway.
