Sukma, July 9: Security forces on Tuesday gunned down one woman Naxal in an encounter near Dabbakonta village of Chhattisgarh's Sukma. The gun-battle took place at around 6 am. The security forces recovered the body of the Naxal after the gunfight. According to reports, the INSAS rifle recovered from her was looted from Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) during Tadmetla attack in 2010. Seven Naxals Gunned Down in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur District.

Deputy Inspector General (anti-Naxal operations) Sundarraj P told PTI that the joint operation was carried out by the personnel of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA-an elite unit of CRPF), Special Task Force and District Reserve Guard. Chhattisgarh: Woman Naxal Killed in Encounter with Police.

The encounter broke out after the security forces encircled the Naxal camp in the forest near Dabbakonta village, located around 500 km from the state capital Raipur. The Naxals then escaped into the dense forest. After the security forces searched the encounter site, the body of the woman Naxal was recovered.
