Chhattisgarh: Two BSF Jawans Martyred, One Injured in Naxal Attack in Kanker District

Two Border Security Force (BSF) jawans were martyred in a Naxal attack in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh on Sunday.

Raipur, July 15: Two Border Security Force (BSF) jawans were martyred in a Naxal attack in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh on Sunday. One jawan was also injured in the attack. The Naxals opened fire a BSF platoon in Partapur police station limits in Kanker at 3:45 in the morning today. The mortal remains of Head Constable Mukhtiyar Singh and Constable Lokendra who lost their lives in the attack have brought to the to 114 BSF Batallion HQ in Pakhanjor.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations), Sundarraj P told PTI, “The gunfight took place in a forest near Mahla camp of BSF under Partapaur police station limits when a team of BSF's 114th battalion was returning after carrying out an anti-Maoist operation." A group of Naxals opened firing at the patrolling team when it was advancing through the forest of Barkot village. The area is located about 250 km from Raipur.

On July 9, two BSF jawans, belonging to the 121st Battalion, were martyred in an IED blast. The jawans were on a bike patrol in the Chhotebethiya area of Kanker. Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh has expressed condolences to the grieved families of the BSF personnel who lost their lives in the attack.
