Raipur, July 17: In another incident of corporal punishment in a school in Chhattisgarh, a teacher punished students and forcefully made them say 'Mai Gadha Hun' (I'm a donkey). According to a tweet by ANI, the incident took place in Surujpur area where the teacher forcefully asked the students to say, "I'm a donkey" and made a video of them. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. Prakash Ikka, District Education Officer, was quoted in the report saying that as per law, a student can't be exploited physically or mentally. An investigation into the matter has been initiated.
The manager of the school, identified as Kamaluddin said that the teacher's intention was not to make the video viral but made it to warn the kids . He added saying that the teacher made the video and threatened the kids to show it to their parents. "Teacher said that her intention was not to make the video viral rather she made the video as the students were not listening to her &disturbing the class. So she made the video to scare them & threatened them to show the video to their parents", he said.

Earlier this month, there were reports that a government school in Haryana started a brain-teaser exercise on a pilot basis at the morning prayer session in which the students will do 14 sit-ups everyday. According to a report by IANS, if the results after a year-long mandatory exercise for students of Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan School in Bhiwani are positive, the exercise will be made mandatory in all government schools in the state.
