Chhattisgarh, August 19: A couple in Pratappur has alleged that their child died during delivery due to the negligence of a hospital nurse at the nurse's residence. According to an ANI tweet, the couple who were on their way to the hospital was suggested by the ambulance driver to get their child delivered at the nurse's house instead. Lakshmi, the woman whose child died during delivery said, "During the delivery, the hand of the child came out. The nurse Shivkumari Jaiswal tried to push the hand inside and broke it. Later, when we reached another hospital, the child was born dead."

Rajesh, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Pratappur, said, " I have received a letter regarding this incident from senior authorities. We are going to question both the sides and then take action." The nurse has, however, denied her involvement in the case and has said that she was not working on the day when the incident took place.
In another case of medical negligence from Bhopal, 11 patients lost their eyesight after undergoing an operation for cataract at Indore Eye Hospital. An FIR will be registered against those responsible for the surgery gone wrong. Doctors found "guilty of negligence" will have to face the departmental inquiry. A compensation of Rs 20,000 will be provided to those who lost their eyesight in this case of medical apathy.
